1. Acceptance of Terms
These Terms of Use ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("you", "your", or "user") and [Legal Entity Name / Developer Name] ("we", "us", or "our"), governing your download, access, and use of the Between mobile application and website at https://littlebetween.com (collectively, the "Service").
By creating an account, pairing with a partner, or using Between in any manner, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must immediately cease using the Service and delete the application from your device.
Eligibility: You must be at least 17 years old (or the applicable age of majority in your jurisdiction) to download and use Between. By using Between, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.
2. Description of the Service
Between is a private, daily mobile game designed specifically for two paired partners. Features include:
- The Daily Ritual: A daily question presented to both partners, answered independently in two steps (your personal choice and your prediction of your partner's choice), kept sealed until both submit, and revealed simultaneously.
- Friendly Rivalry & Match: Individual point tracking for accurate predictions, a cumulative Couple Match percentage, and consecutive day streaks.
- On-Demand Challenges: Replayable 10-question rounds across multiple categories (e.g., *How well do you know me?*, *Would you rather?*, *Our relationship*, *Future together*, *Funny & random*).
- Custom & Memory Questions: The ability to author personal multiple-choice questions and upload photographs to create memory-based challenges.
- Relationship Journal ("Our Story"): A chronological archive of answers and reveals shared between you and your paired partner.
3. Relationship & Entertainment Disclaimer
PLEASE READ THIS SECTION CAREFULLY:
- Entertainment Purpose Only: Between is developed and provided solely for recreational, conversational, and entertainment purposes. It is NOT a substitute for professional psychological counseling, marriage therapy, psychiatric treatment, relationship mediation, or medical advice.
- "Couple Match" Is a Game Statistic: The Couple Match percentage and prediction scores generated within the app reflect nothing more than prediction accuracy on specific game questions. They do NOT measure, assess, or diagnose relationship compatibility, emotional health, relationship durability, or romantic fitness.
- User Responsibility: Disagreements, humorous revelations, or surprises are natural outcomes of couples gameplay. You and your partner are solely responsible for how you communicate with each other, how you interpret game results, and how you conduct your personal relationship. We disclaim any and all liability for interpersonal disputes, relationship distress, or misunderstandings arising from the use of the Service.
4. User Accounts & Couple Pairing
4.1 Registration and Security
To use Between, you must create an account using an email address, Sign in with Apple, or Sign in with Google. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep your credentials confidential. You are solely responsible for all activities that occur under your account.
4.2 The Pairing Mechanic
Between connects exactly two users through a single-use, 6-character cryptographic invite code that expires in 24 hours. Accounts can belong to only one active couple at any given time.
4.3 Leaving a Pair
Either partner may elect to leave the couple pairing at any time through the in-app Settings. When a partner leaves:
- The couple's status immediately changes to
ended. - Active game routes close, and neither partner can continue submitting answers or playing challenges within that pair.
- The surviving partner is notified that the pair has ended.
- Scores, streaks, and answer records from an ended pair are archived and cannot be carried over into a new pairing.
5. User-Generated Content & Photo Uploads
5.1 Ownership & License
You retain all ownership rights in the questions, multiple-choice options, text, and photographs you author or upload to Between ("User Content").
By uploading User Content, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to host, store, process, compress, strip metadata from, and display that content solely to you and your paired partner as necessary to operate the Service. We do not use your User Content for advertising, public feeds, or marketing purposes.
5.2 Content Guidelines & Prohibitions
You represent and warrant that your User Content does NOT contain:
- Pornographic, sexually explicit, obscene, or non-consensual sexual content.
- Defamatory, harassing, stalking, abusive, hateful, or threatening material.
- Depictions of violence, self-harm, or illegal acts.
- Photographs of minors without verifiable parental consent.
- Content that infringes any copyright, trademark, privacy, or intellectual property right of any third party.
5.3 Automated Metadata Stripping
To protect your privacy, our backend server automatically processes every photo uploaded for memory questions using Sharp, permanently removing all EXIF and GPS location metadata. However, you should exercise discretion when selecting photos to ensure they are appropriate and consensual. We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these Terms.
6. Subscriptions, In-App Purchases & Billing
6.1 Free Tier and Between Premium
Between offers free access to the daily question ritual, pairing, scoring, streaks, and introductory challenges. We may offer an optional paid subscription ("Between Premium") that unlocks additional features, such as unlimited on-demand challenge categories, custom question creation, and full historical journal access.
6.2 Couple-Shared Subscription Model
Between Premium is designed for two: a single subscription purchased by one partner unlocks Premium features for both partners while actively paired. If either partner leaves the pair, the subscription remains tied to the purchasing user's Apple ID or Google Play account, and the non-purchasing partner will revert to the standard free tier unless they hold their own subscription.
6.3 Payment Processing & Auto-Renewal
All in-app purchases and subscriptions are processed through the Apple App Store (or Google Play Store) and are subject to the applicable platform’s terms and conditions:
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID (or Google account) upon confirmation of purchase.
- Subscriptions automatically renew unless auto-renew is cancelled at least 24 hours prior to the end of the current billing cycle.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your device's Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
- Refunds are handled solely by Apple (or Google) in accordance with their respective refund policies.
7. Acceptable Use & Prohibited Conduct
When using Between, you agree NOT to:
- Decompile, reverse engineer, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code of the application or backend APIs.
- Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of our system or network, or breach any security or authentication measures.
- Use automated scripts, bots, spiders, or scrapers to access the Service.
- Interfere with, disrupt, or impose an unreasonable load on our infrastructure (such as deliberate invite code flooding or denial-of-service attempts).
- Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with any person.
8. Intellectual Property Rights
The Between name, logo (including the signature two overlapping smiling circles mark), visual interface, software code, graphic design, sound design, animations, and proprietary question content are the exclusive intellectual property of [Legal Entity Name / Developer Name] and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other applicable intellectual property laws.
Nothing in these Terms grants you any right, title, or interest in or to our trademarks, logos, or proprietary software, except for the limited license to use the app for personal, non-commercial purposes.
9. Termination & Account Deletion
Your Right to Terminate: You may terminate these Terms at any time by deleting your account inside the app via Together → Settings → Delete My Account. Account deletion permanently removes your profile, revokes invite codes, ends your active pairing, and purges your authentication record.
Our Right to Terminate: We reserve the right to suspend, disable, or terminate your access to the Service immediately and without prior notice if you violate these Terms, engage in abusive conduct, or if required to do so by applicable law.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, TIMELY, SECURE, ERROR-FREE, VIRUS-FREE, OR COMPATIBLE WITH EVERY HARDWARE DEVICE OR OPERATING SYSTEM.
11. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL [Legal Entity Name / Developer Name], ITS DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, PARTNERS, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA LOSS, REPUTATIONAL HARM, OR INTERPERSONAL/RELATIONSHIP DISPUTES, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR ACCESS TO OR USE OF (OR INABILITY TO ACCESS OR USE) THE SERVICE.
OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT PAID BY YOU TO US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM (OR FIFTY US DOLLARS ($50 USD), WHICHEVER IS GREATER).
12. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
